EXECUTIVES at Britain’s leading bus companies are receiving millions in pay and bonuses while customers are hit by fare rises and route closures, according to research by Labour. Michael Dugher, the shadow transport secretary, accused them of cashing in while passengers suffer, in the opening salvo of a campaign against “bus barons” that follows its attack on energy firms.

A passenger plane had a near miss with a drone as it landed at Heathrow, in the first such incident recorded at Britain’s biggest airport. The AIrbus A320 was at 700ft when it spotted the drone.
