The government has kicked Rotherham's planned new railway station "into the long grass", according to the borough's council leader, after it was revealed the project will be delayed until at least 2027. In a letter to South Yorkshire’s Mayor, Oliver Coppard, the Transport Secretary Grant Shapps confirmed that the long-awaited scheme will not be funded during this transport settlement period.
