BAA losses triple on growing pension deficit
Losses at BAA more than tripled to £545 million in the first six months as the airports operator attempted to reduce a growing pension fund deficit. Exceptional items pushed the company, which owns seven UK airports including Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, into the red although its underlying earnings rose 28 per cent to £469.9 million.
