  • Travel firm increases bus fares in West Yorkshire First buses has increased its prices in West Yorkshire by up to 20%. It is the first time the company has raised its prices in 15 months. First bosses say the move is due to an "economic backdrop of rising costs".

  • Potters Bar inquest judge warns rail passengers still at 'risk' A jury at the long-awaited inquest into the disaster in 2002 found that a set of unsafe points on the track outside the station in Hertfordshire caused the derailment. Last night Police, the Crown Prosecution Service and a string of other public bodies confirmed that they were reopening investigations into whether criminal charges could be brought over the crash in light of the inquest.

  • ATOC cuts agent commission Agents booking rail travel have had their commissions cut by the Association of Train Operating Companies this week. ATOC has cut commissions from 5% to 4% and is also forcing agents to take out bonding.
