It has been described as “eerie”, “spooky” and “not exactly Britain’s finest landscape”. Many Britons would struggle even to locate the Hoo Peninsula on a map, yet this remote, desolate area, 30 miles east of London on the north Kent coast, could be a strong contender for the most talked about area of the UK in the coming days.
