- Revenue back to 2019 levels at National ExpressIn a trading update for the first quarter of the year, National Express Group Chief Executive Ignacio has told shareholders that the firm has made a good start to the year. “It’s pleasing that revenues have bounced back to 2019 levels, improving through the first quarter,” he said. “The strong recovery in our discretionary coach businesses in both the UK and Spain shows the pent-up demand for travel which is further evidenced by our strong trading over Easter.

- Borders Buses launches Pingo demand responsive serviceBorders Buses has launched Pingo, an app-based demand responsive transport product supported by Scottish Borders Council. It serves Berwickshire, including Cockburnspath, Coldstream, Gordon and St Abbs “and everywhere in between,” and is intended to fill in where fixed-route bus provision is lacking.
- Isle of Wight operator Seaview Services sold to XelabusThe company trading assets of long-established coach operator Seaview Services of Sandown on the Isle of Wight have been acquired by Eastleigh-based Xelabus.
- No relief in April for high bulk diesel prices, figures showBulk diesel prices showed scant sign of reducing from crisis level in April, according to averages calculated by trade body RHA. The month’s average price excluding VAT was 143.79ppl, down just 1.15ppl – or 0.8% – from the March figure of 144.94ppl.
- McGill’s orders 41 more Yutong battery-electric busesMcGill’s Buses has ordered a further 41 Yutong battery-electric buses. They will be part-funded by phase one of the Scottish Zero Emission Bus (ScotZEB) challenge fund and take to 96 the number of Yutong zero-emission buses with the operator.
- Richard Gagg named First Wessex Operations ManagerFirst Wessex has named Richard Gagg as Operations Manager. He will work from the operator’s Weymouth depot and joins from Go South Coast subsidiary Salisbury Reds, where he was formerly also Operations Manager.
