DEBATE: Does the rival Heathrow scheme make more sense than existing plans for the airport’s expansion?

Competition is absolutely necessary to ensure that passengers and the UK economy benefit fully from the expansion of Heathrow, with an end to the current monopoly. Spiralling costs and a track record of over-spending risk the airport becoming a white elephant if led by the incumbent, Heathrow Airport Limited (HAL).
