Large stretches of Britain's railway network would be returned to public control as soon as possible after the election by a Labour government, the shadow Transport Secretary has said.

  • Translink need support as fares hike won’t cover lossesTranslink yesterday increased passenger fares on Metro bus services, Ulsterbus services and for travel with NI Railways. The increases are slightly out of phase with the annual accounting periods for Translink and, also surprisingly, apply different rates of fare increase in the separate companies. The in-year management accounts may be less reassuring than has been acknowledged.
